sga's holiday celebration a hit!

Bringing the warm holiday spirit to PhilaU!

On December 4th, the SGA initiated the holiday season with a celebration in the living room of the Kanbar Center. Our spiritual director, Rabbi Marjorie Berman, enlightened us all about the significance of the Christmas tree, Menorah, and Kenorah, followed by the lighting of the three symbols. As she spoke, she reminded all of us about the importance of "light" during this time of year, and that the tree, the Menorah, and the Kenorah each bring us light in the darkest days of the year. After the lighting, Mr. Theodore Search, the founder of Philadelphia University, said a few words about the holidays and about the University’s progress. The celebration continued with cookies – a color theme for each holiday, and other refreshments in the performance space. Students were entertained by holiday crafts and spin the driedel inside, while other students made s’mores outside by the open fire on the patio. Although the air was cool, the atmosphere was warm with holiday spirit. The SGA thanks everyone who celebrated with us and would like to wish the entire Philadelphia University community a happy and safe holiday.
